Pride Month 2026: Championing Inclusion Across Pharmacy

June marks Pride Month, a time to celebrate the LGBT+ community, reflect on progress, and continue championing equality across society and within the pharmacy profession. It is also an opportunity to consider how inclusive, supportive environments can be created for colleagues and patients alike.

The PDA LGBT+ Network is proud to support members and raise awareness of LGBT+ issues within pharmacy.

Get involved and represent pharmacy

Pride events take place across the UK throughout June and beyond, offering a vibrant opportunity to celebrate and show solidarity. Many pharmacy professionals take part by attending local events, joining workplace initiatives, or volunteering within community health settings.

Whether attending individually or with colleagues, visible support helps reinforce pharmacy’s role as an inclusive and caring profession.

Pride Month is also a time to reflect on how inclusivity shows up in day-to-day pharmacy practice. Small actions such as using inclusive language, respecting identity, and creating welcoming consultation spaces can have a meaningful impact on patient experiences.

Within teams, Pride can help open important conversations around equality, diversity, and the role pharmacy professionals play in addressing health inequalities affecting LGBT+ communities.

Learn, reflect, and grow

Continuous learning is central to professional development. Pride Month offers an opportunity to deepen understanding of LGBT+ health needs, patient experiences, and inclusive care approaches.

This might include engaging with training, professional resources, or wider learning on equality, diversity, and inclusion in healthcare settings.

Creating an inclusive pharmacy environment does not always require large initiatives. Simple, visible actions such as displaying Pride symbols in staff areas, supporting awareness campaigns, or promoting inclusive messaging can help signal that pharmacy spaces are welcoming and respectful for all.

For example, on Friday 19 June, Josh Wells, Vice President of the LGBT+ Network, is speaking at APTUK’s Pharmacy Pride: Inclusive Leadership and Learning Series (PPILLS) on Queer Health in a Digital Era. Learn more and register here.

Support the wider community

Pharmacy professionals play an important role in supporting community wellbeing. Signposting to appropriate services, raising awareness of relevant health resources, and engaging with local initiatives can all contribute to better outcomes for LGBT+ individuals.

Share your Pride with the LGBT+ Network

The PDA LGBT+ Network would love to hear how individuals are marking Pride Month in 2026. Whether attending events, supporting workplaces, or celebrating in personal ways, every experience is valuable.

Photos, stories, or reflections can be shared with the Network to help celebrate the diversity of the profession and inspire others.
