The dental sector provides a good exemplar of how skill mix has been developed to support the work of the dentist, to widen the scope of the service and ultimately to improve the service to patients. Six types of dental technicians have been registered by the General Dental Council (GDC).

Boots Management Services Ltd: Discrimination and breach of contract

BY CONSENT, having now heard the evidence today, the Respondent now admits that the Claimant was at the material time an employee for the purposes of her unfair dismissal claim pursuant to the provisions of the Employment Rights Act 1996. 2. The application to amend the discrimination based claim so as to include additionally a claim of direct discrimination by way of associated disability and within the provisions of section 13 of the Equality Act 2010 is granted.

CAC agree bargaining unit for PDA Union Recognition

Following a hearing on Friday 28th September, the CAC has today issued its decision on which pharmacists will be eligible to vote in a ballot to decide whether they can negotiate their pay, hours and holiday through the PDA Union. The PDA Union will only be able to negotiate for better employment terms for this group of employees should they win the ballot.

Bestway Panacea Holdings Limited: An unfair dismissal

A court heard how Bestway Panacea Holdings Limited unfairly dismissed a member of staff and treated them unfavourably because of something arising as a consequence of a disability. They also failed to make reasonable adjustments to accommodate said disability.

PDA report suggests action on grandparenting and educational standards of pharmacy technicians is required

The PDA have released the third chapter of their pharmacy technicians report which shows that although 73% of pharmacy technicians on the 2017 GPhC register were admitted through grandparenting arrangements, the GPhC does not hold records of what assessments were conducted by the RPSGB as to the suitability of the qualifications of individual pharmacy technicians during the grandparenting process.

PDA Union & Boots Update: ACAS talks end without agreement

Two sets of talks facilitated by the government’s conciliation service, ACAS between high-street chemist Boots and the independent pharmacists’ trade union PDA Union have ended without agreement. Following a ballot of 7,000 pharmacists in June, in which 87% of voters favoured changes to the trade union arrangements for pharmacists at Boots, the PDA Union are now following a legal process to become the recognised independent voice of pharmacists at the company.

LLoyds Pharmacy Bonus Payments
