The PDA Reps that hosted the meetings were Nav Bhogal, PDA National Representative for South England & Wales and PDA Regional Representative for the South East, Jayesh Ladva, PDA Regional Representative for North West and West Yorkshire, and Mithul Shah, PDA Regional Representative for Central London and Greater London North recently. The reps appreciated the effort that PDA members made to join the events.
Nav Bhogal gave an update on the last JCC meeting which informed members of the discussions that the PDA Reps are engaged with and a business update from both the PDA Union and Boots Directors. The minutes of the meeting are available on the Unscripted website. An update was also provided on the changes to the appointment booking diary for changes led by NHS England.
Mithul Shah shared an update on the 22/23 flu performance headlines sharing that 1.7M vaccines were delivered with 80% being delivered during eight peak weeks with an NHS to private mix of 70%:30%. The season was impacted by supply changes, mid-season inclusions of 50-64-year-old NHS cohorts, political upheaval, and increased vaccine hesitancy. Mithul also shared some slides with some of the key learnings from the 22/23 flu season and how collaboration with PDA Reps has led to significant improvements in the operational efficiencies for this year.
Jayesh Ladva delivered a presentation which was also delivered to the JCC. Jayesh led with some of the key psychological concerns pharmacists face before the flu vaccination season and how PDA Reps have engaged with a very collaborative Boots team willing to address these concerns.
The second meeting was hosted to provide an opportunity for members to provide feedback on their vaccination clinics. PDA members reported limited concerns and any issues that were raised during the evening were provided with further advice to either link in with their local PDA Rep or to contact the Boots vaccination team. Members were very engaging and shared their personal insights about running a vaccination clinic.
The feedback provided was promising and showcased the strong relationships the PDA Reps have built to work in partnership with the Boots Vaccination team.
