VACCINATIONS: All vaccinations delivered by suitably trained pharmacists have always been covered by indemnity insurance as part of the standard PDA membership apart from Covid-19. For new membership renewals after January 1st, 2026, Covid-19 vaccinations are now also automatically covered.

The PDA Union has issued further communications to eligible Boots pharmacists on the same day that ballot papers have been dispatched to their home addresses. Petition reaches over 8,000 signatures
A public petition against government proposals which could see pharmacies operating without the presence of a Responsible Pharmacist has received over 8,000 signatures. The PDA urge you to help increase the current figure, if the petition reaches 10,000 signatures it will receive a response from the government.

Recognising and supporting future pharmacists

Each year the PDA sponsor the Student Leadership Award in the Northern Ireland, Welsh and Scottish Pharmacy Awards. We caught up with Marie-Anne Durham, a third year Pharmacy student at Robert Gordon University (RGU), who won the Student Leadership Award at last years’ Scottish Pharmacy Awards, to see what has inspired her so far in her pharmacy journey.

Training Matters’ annual hunt for exceptional pharmacists is officially underway as the Recognition of Excellence Awards opens for entries. Now in their sixth year, the awards showcase and reward the amazing contribution that pharmacists make to their pharmacies, patients and communities. So if you’re proud of something you’ve achieved, have gone the extra mile to support patients or have an inspirational colleague who you think deserves recognition, get nominating now. The deadline for entries is 8 April.

PDA respond to GPhC’s consultation on the draft 2019 fees rules

The GPhC has been consulting from 1 November 2018 to 24 January 2019 on changing its fees for registered pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy premises.

PDA Charity Fundraising Dinner in aid of Pharmacist Support

We are committed to supporting the profession’s charity, Pharmacist Support and to further our support, we are hosting a charity fundraising dinner at the Park Regis Hotel in Birmingham next month (Saturday 30 March – in the same venue and in the evening of the first day of the PDA National Conference). Tickets are priced at just £40 per person and includes a three-course meal, live music and a raffle entry.

£10 from every ticket goes to the charity

Did you know?
Each year, the PDA donates £1 to Pharmacist Support for every one of our members including students and pre-registration trainees who have a completely free membership. In the first year of the partnership (Sept 2017 – Sept 2018), we donated over £29,000 to the charity.

Limited spaces still available for the
PDA National Conference

There are limited spaces still available for the PDA National Conference, which takes place in Birmingham on 30 – 31 March 2019. This event is FREE for PDA members (non-members can pay £195 to attend both days or £110 to attend either one of the two days) and provides the perfect opportunity to engage and connect with other members, in addition to discovering more information on emerging opportunities and practical guidance to help effectively manage risk.
