The payment acknowledges Boots pharmacists’ commitment to establishing and delivering NHS core and advanced services, such as the Pharmacy First Service, Common Ailments Service, Hypertension Case Finding and Pharmacy Contraception Service.
This bonus is a recent example of the successful collaboration between the PDA and Boots, and how working alongside a trade union can benefit all parties involved.
As the recognised union for pharmacists at Boots, the PDA annually negotiates the pay, terms and conditions for the pharmacist employees. During last year’s pay negotiations, the PDA secured a 5% pay award for Boots pharmacists, which came into effect in November 2023. The 2024 pay talks at Boots are currently in progress.
The PDA also holds recognition agreements at other employers, including LloydsPharmacy Healthcare Services and all GP Federations in Northern Ireland. Recognition agreements allow for pay and terms and conditions to be formally negotiated between employees and employers. PDA members who think that a recognition agreement would be beneficial at their workplace should get in touch via the PDA Member Support Centre.
