PDA BAME Network launches Tokenism Factsheet

In recent years, many organisations may have taken positive steps towards fostering diverse work environments. However, the perception of tokenism persists in some workplaces. The PDA BAME Network has put together a factsheet to provide an overview of tokenism in the workplace, and to help pharmacists, trainees and students understand its impact and help them lead a conversation in the workplace on the topic.

PDA BAME Network launches Islamophobia Factsheet

November is Islamophobia Awareness Month and to end the month the PDA BAME Network has launched a factsheet that provides an overview of Islamophobia in the workplace. The factsheet can also help pharmacists, trainees and students understand the impact of Islamophobia and help them lead conversations in the workplace on this issue.

The trade union movement represents workers in many professions, sectors, and roles. The movement includes professional sportspeople and the Assistant Director for Education at the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA), Oshor Williams. Recently, Oshor shared an experience from his playing days as a winger at Stockport County FC, which highlighted why just not being racist is not enough.

PDA BAME Network to attend 27th Annual STUC Black Workers’ Conference

The Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC)’s 27th Annual Black Workers Conference will take place in Glasgow next month (7-8 October). Scottish-based PDA BAME Network members Urvi Vora and Shabina Wali will be debating and discussing a wide range of issues at the conference on behalf of the PDA.
