PDA member survey shows prescription charges in England regularly prevent patients from receiving their medicines

The results of a survey of PDA members reveals widespread occurrences of patients being unable to afford to pay for the medicines they need. The PDA is a member of the Prescription Charges Coalition, a group of organisations calling on the UK Government to scrap prescription charges in England for people with long-term conditions.

A PDA member shares their story: Living and working with autism

Living with an invisible disability makes it difficult for people to understand the daily struggle people living and working with autism face. Currently 1.1% of the UK population is on the autism spectrum which means that 650,000 people are also living with this invisible disability, and of that 650,000, only 16% of autistic adults are in full-term employment. As a member of this 16%, working full time with autism is hard.

Boots unfairly dismisses and discriminates against disabled pharmacy technician

A Boots pharmacy technician with 34 years’ service, who worked in a failing Holyhead pharmacy, was constructively dismissed after suffering discrimination from her line manager, following the premature implementation of a Performance Improvement Process (PIP).

PDA launch equality networks on the 10th anniversary of the Equality Act

The PDA has launched three additional Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Networks for their growing membership. The Ability, BAME and LGBT networks will fit alongside the National Association of Women Pharmacists (NAWP), which became part of the PDA in January. The four networks will significantly advance the organisation’s work on equality.

PDAU donates £1,750 to Birmingham Mind

The PDAU promised to give £1 to charity for each vote cast in the recognition ballot at Boots this year, and as a result, a total donation of £3,500 has been split between two charities.
