The PDA is proud to announce that it will be sponsoring this year’s Trainee ACTNow campaign. The PDA’s charity partner, Pharmacist Support, will once again be running the campaign to support those in the run-up to the assessments.
Pharmacist Support understands that it can be difficult to find time to prioritise wellbeing and is encouraging all trainee pharmacists to join the ACTNow campaign, which offers them support throughout their trainee year.
The campaign focuses on these three themes:
- Understanding the training year
- Financial and budgeting support
- Workplace relationships.
This includes tips and insights from newly qualified pharmacists, workshops, and videos to help trainees prepare for life in the pharmacy. There is also a pack to help them manage the transition from being a trainee to being a pharmacist, wellbeing and mental health resources, guidance, and support.
ACTNow!
This campaign encourages individuals and teams to:
- Allow time for wellbeing
- Consider the needs of others
- Take action
- Now! You can start improving your health and wellbeing by signing up to the campaign today.
What is wellbeing?
Wellbeing is the state of having good mental health, high life satisfaction, a sense of meaning or purpose, and the ability to manage stress. It’s important to realise that wellbeing is a much deeper concept than moment-to-moment happiness, and we must invest in it if we want to have sustained happiness, control of our emotions, higher productivity, and good physical health.
About Pharmacist Support
Pharmacist Support is an independent charity that’s dedicated to championing the wellbeing of all those in the pharmacy. They provide a wide variety of FREE and confidential support services to those working and studying in the pharmaceutical sector. They are proud to be able to support people from such a caring profession, and each year, they provide thousands of acts of support.
It is Pharmacist Support’s mission for no one in the pharmacy family to face challenging times without them by their side. There are three ACTNow wellbeing campaigns run annually, which support students, trainees, and pharmacists at key points throughout the year.
PDA’s ongoing work with Pharmacist Support
Each year, the PDA donates £1 per member to Pharmacist Support. Since 2017, the PDA has committed to making this contribution on an ongoing basis to support the work of the charity. These donations now exceed £300k.
As well as supporting the charity financially, the PDA’s partnership with Pharmacist Support has included mental wellbeing workshops for pharmacy students that highlight practical tips on how to manage stress during the exam period, and how pharmacists can manage workplace stress.
