What is the role of a trainee pharmacist/provisional registered representative?
The role involves sharing information and feeding back on trainee pharmacist issues and concerns, including from your peers so that we can lobby on your behalf, communicate with you, issue relevant guidance and support, and where appropriate, campaign for you and with you. This voluntary role is vital to the work of the PDA and will help ensure that more trainee pharmacists are aware of who the PDA are, what we do, what support and advice is available to trainee pharmacists, and how members can get involved.

The time required to undertake this role will be flexible, from a couple of minutes to share a tweet, to an hour’s briefing, to perhaps a day to review and test tools or attend a training event. It will be flexible, and advance notice will be given for any significant activities.
The Trainee Pharmacist Rep role includes:
- Being an Ambassador for the PDA and our work on behalf of pharmacists
- Communicating within your trainee pharmacist networks and feeding back to the PDA on trainee pharmacist issues and concerns
- Recruiting friends, colleagues and other student/trainee pharmacist/provisional regs to join the PDA
- Promoting the PDA and its networks on social media
- Raising awareness of the PDA’s current campaigns such as Violence in Pharmacy, Safer pharmacies and Wider than Medicines
- Testing and informing PDA resources and areas of support
- Writing short articles for PDA newsletters or participate by adding content for emails
- Attending Regional Committee meetings online as a guest on a rota within your region
- Getting involved in PDA events, the National Conference and other supportive PDA programmes

As a trainee pharmacist rep, we want you to feel confident and supported in your new PDA role.
We hope to provide opportunities for all our student, trainee pharmacist and provisionally registered reps to develop your skills and knowledge and to gain personal satisfaction through helping and supporting others and sharing your profession for the future.
The PDA provide many opportunities for our reps to develop their knowledge and skills:

- Training opportunities through GFTU
- Training and events for Reps with the PDA and external stakeholders (face to face and online)
- Linked with a PDA Regional Official in your region for support
- 1-2-1 mentoring support for your rep role with a member of the PDA Organising & Engagement Team
- Place at the GFTU Young Members Weekend
- Space for you to network, share and support each other
- Opportunities to join other PDA networks
- A PDA Trainee Pharmacist/Prov-Reg Executive Member focused on the issues important to you
